Global group donates ventilators, facemasks to Health Ministry

In a bid to save people’s lives and ensure health workers safety, Global Group under Green Horizon project in partnership with Ministry of Agriculture has donated six life saving ventilators and 10,000 facemasks to the Ministry of Health.
The donation attended by Minister of Health, Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Agriculture and Health was done at Public Emergency Operations Center on Monday in Juba.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Mayen Machut Achiek, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health said it was a tremendous effort to see Country’s health sector being supported by partners in a fight against coronavirus.
“As Ministry of Health, we are humbled to all our friends and health partners for always supporting us, we initially thought that COVID-19 situation would be a painful business for us, but the partners are making it easier and less painful,” he said.
Prof. Mayen affirmed that although, the state of affairs was still challenging, he said the battle would be successful as partners and friends were mindful about the country’s health sector.
According to the Undersecretary, the donation was as timely as the Health’s sector requires.
“These are the very items that we needed, they are not late; they have just come in time,” Prof. Mayen said.
Yizhak Nevo, the Business Development Director at Global Group, Green Horizon project revealed that the donation was direct from Israel government to support the people of South Sudan during COVID-19 period.
“During these flash times, we the green horizon, the South Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security alongside with Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs thought it wise to participate to the national efforts to save as many lives as possible,” he said.
“This valuable donation was endorsed and approved by the Israel authorities and allowed to be exported although there is a government ban on exporting these machines as they are meant for Israel hospitals,” he added.
Nevo hopes the donated life care machines would save life for the people of South Sudan during this period of pandemic.
He said “If required, the Israel Company will instruct and train the team in operating the life saving machines”
Elizabeth Acuei Yol, the National Minister of Health appreciated the group for the support to the Country’s health sector.
“I am very happy to be part of this donation. I thank and appreciate Global Group for thinking about the country’s health sector,” she said
She also thanked the government of Israel for offering such gifts to the people of South Sudan, adding “It is really going to be useful for the people of South Sudan”.
