Fresh clashes reported in Kajokeji County

Heavy gun fights have been reported in Endejo village about 45 kilometers west of Kajokeji town allegedly within an area controlled by SPLA-IO.

According to a source who spoke to Juba Monitor on condition of anonymity yesterday, the reported fighting broke out at around 5 am and continued up to 11am Monday morning, displacing unspecified number of people.

“My sister who works in that area called me this (Monday) morning and told that we should put them in prayers because their situation was not good.

When I asked her what was wrong? She told me there was fighting. So I called my friend who is security officer of the government and he told me there was fighting in Endejo, within the area occupied by SPLA-IO,” the anonymous explains.

“Tension has been building for the last 14 days within the ranks of the SPLA-IO in the area following the defection of General Moses Lokujo,” another source said.

Attempts to get comments from authorities on the ground were not successful but SPLA-IO deputy spokesperson, colonel Lam Paul Gabriel had on Sunday accused General Moses Lokujo who recently defected to the SSPDF of trying to escape justice for alleged killing of some three generals several months ago.
