Fr.Leopoldo School leads in Imatong Secondary exams

Fr. Leopoldo Secondary School in Magwi County has emerged the best school in the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations 2016, Imotong State Ministry of Education said.

Lobone S.S, Magwi S.S, Nimule Model S.S, Agola SS, Owinykibul S.S,Fulla S.S, Nimule S.S, Dr. John Garang S.S and Mugali S.S were among the top ten schools.

Hassan Urbano Alex made the statement on Friday while  announcing the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education Examination result 2016/2017.

He said History was the best performed subject.

“Although the majority of the best ten candidates are from science section, the results show that there is a good performance in Arts subjects compared to science subjects.  Mathematics, Agriculture and principle of accounts are the worst performed subjects,” Alex said.

He said according to the County performance, Magwi County produced the best result and followed by Ayaci, Pageri, and Torit East, Torit, Ikwoto and Kidepo Valley Counties.

The minister stressed that there has been a significant progress in the general performance in 2016 compared to the last two years; 2015 and 2014, adding that Male candidates have performed better than the females.

The performance by gender;Male candidate who registered were 620, and  607 sat for the examination. 466 students passed the exams marking 76.8 % of percentage passed. Whereas, there were 202 female registered candidates and only one failed to sit for the exams. Then 115 have passed the exams marking 57.2% of  percentage passed.

Alex reiterated that the result shows that the male candidates have performed better than females and that the performance of male candidates in 2016 (76.8%) is better than compared to 2015 (73%) while the performance of female candidates in 2016 have dropped compared to 2015 performance (60%).

He attributed domestic problems and the economic crisis to the continuous low performance among the female candidates.
