The police in Western Lakes State have arrested the former Western Bahr Naam County Commissioner Samuel Mading Gaak for misappropriation following the letter of arrest issued by the Attorney General.
Samuel Mading Gaak appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Rumbek for investigations over the mismanagement of public funds and cattle theft.
In an interview with Juba Monitor, Mr. Gaak denied all the allegations saying he had never looted any cow to pay the dowry of his wife as claimed by his plaintiff.
Mr. Gaak had been served with five warrants of rest.
Last week the Governor of Western Lakes, Matur Chut Dhuol sacked Samuel Mading Gaak from his position as Western Bahr Naam County commissioner and replaced him with the former Australian community leader, Mading Madheng Deer.
Immediately after the removal of Mr. Gak a neighboring community of Western Bahr Naam County opens a case against him at state High Court of allegedly looting 50 herds of cattle and 90,000 SSP.
The plaintiff, Minyang Yaak Marial claimed that the former commissioner Mr. Gak had looted his cattle and used it for settling his marriage requirement.
“He is now under investigation at the CID then after that he will be referred to the court for trial. We only want our wealth back that he has used for the marriage of his wife,” Mr. Marial said.
Last month the Organization implementing Water for Lakes State project suspended its operation in the area over the alleged torture of its staff and confiscation of the organization vehicle by the former Western Bahr Naam County commissioner.
However, Mr. Gak denied all the allegations levied against him.
