A former member of the Council of Elders Peter Kornelio Chut has called on the other Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) members to come back to Juba and take part in the reunification process to bring to an end the conflict ravaging the country.
Mr. Chut who visited Juba Monitor offices on Tuesday stressed that the reunification of SPLM factions was necessary to ending the conflict since the problem started from within the party.
“Enough is enough. The suffering should come to an end. The citizens should not continue to suffer and there are other people who are benefiting from the conflict,” Chut said.
“Let’s come together and stop the current conflict. There is no benefit from the conflict. It is only disorganizing.”
He urged the leadership of the country to seriously consider bringing genuine peace to stop the suffering that the people are undergoing.
Chut lauded the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai for joining the main stream SPLM led by Salva Kiir.
“We are the problem to our selves. There was no one who came from outside and told us to start fighting. Let’s all come back and unite and start developing our Country,” he added.
“There is need to come together and look at the mistakes that had happened and find the solution to the problem. The people of South Sudan don’t feel happy if people are dying.” He urged all people to work for peace and unity.
On Monday Taban Deng Gai dissolved his faction and joined the mainstream party.
