Five dead, two wounded in Lakes State

Five people were killed and two others wounded following inter-communal fighting in Lakes state on Monday.
Speaking to Juba Monitor, the deputy police Commissioner brigadier General Makur Dak said two soldiers from military units were killed while attempting to prevent inter-communal fighting between armed Youth from Rumbek East and Yirol West Counties.
“I am currently in Rumbek East county headquarters of Aduel waiting for a vehicle to take me to Akot and Alualuak where clashes occurred. Now, I can confirm to you that five people are confirmed dead and two others wounded,” said Dak.
Brig. Gen. Dak said the security forces have not yet gathered enough details including houses which have been burnt down into ashes in Mayom-cuei and Alualuak.
The secretary general Barnaba Mayor Deng said the security situations is calm and stable.
“We have deployed forces at the scene of yesterday’s clashes in Alualuak Payam and Akot,” said Secretary Mayor.
However, the executive director in the area, Mr. Benjamin Mayor said that people have been displaced, while many are in fear of unknown from the attackers.
He appealed to national government to immediately intervene in order to rescue the situation of civilians who are suffering lacking food, water, medicine and shelter.
