Fatal bus accident leaves seven injured along Airport road

Seven passengers were badly injured yesterday morning along Juba-Airport road after the driver of the sewage tank lost control and hit the passenger bus.
The overturned bus was boarded by more than ten passengers who were traveling from Juba to Gudele. The seven injured people were rushed to Juba Teaching Hospital after the traffic police and security personnel arrived at the scene of the accident immediately.
An eyewitness from Radar Security who was guarding Transit Hotel (name withheld), narrated to Juba Monitor what he saw.
“An Ethiopian who was driving a sewage tank first knocked a boda-boda, then knocked the bus from behind and later drove off into the compound of the hotel, bulldozing down the fence made of Zinc,” he narrated.
Juba Monitor also spoke to some victims of this tragic accident, who expressed their painful experience and opinions.
Anei Kuot who was groaning in pain and was unaware of what had happened but found himself rolling over with other passengers after waking up from unconsciousness narrated,
“I was confused of what happened, I just found myself rolling over with passengers and I fell unconscious. I am not aware of what was happening,” he said.
A mother of five, (name withheld) attested that it was the fault of the reckless driver who hit their bus from behind.
“We have been hit from behind, and this overturned our bus instantly,” she said.
However, speaking to Juba Monitor on phone Lt. Mayen Mamer from the office of the Traffic Police confirmed the accident and said they have directed the matter to the traffic police department in Juba town and that they are still waiting for final report from there.
The tragic accident caused a heavy traffic jam of about one hour at Juba-Airport road.
This has been the first tragic accident in Juba so far since the beginning of 2021.
