Eastern Lakes nominate 27 for National Dialogue conference

Authorities in Eastern Lakessaid a list of 27 people has been submitted to the members of the National Dialogue Steering Committee to attend Wau conference.

The state information minister Taban Abel Aguek said the delegates comprised of youth, women, local and religious leaders were set to participate in the upcoming event.

The National Dialogue regional conference is expected to convene in Wau State on 18th February 2019.

This came a day after the sub-committee of the National Dialogue Steering Committee for greater Lakes visited Yiroland met with stakeholders on Monday.

According to Aguek, the National Dialogue members are in consultation with local authorities on how to prepare for the event.

He said the grassroots consultation had been completed but it is now on final stage of having members in the conference.

The Governor of Eastern Lakes State, Mangar Buong Aluenge said the visit of the sub-committee showed an indication that all were moving forward with peace.

He said to attain peace is one of the most important things in life.

Governor Mangar stressed the need to start putting things in order especially in the area of security before forming the next government.

He said his state managed to mobilize all community members to participate in the peace conference.

It is not clear how many delegates are needed from each state to participate in the regional conferences of the National Dialogue. But earlier information obtained from National Dialogue indicated that about 5,000 people were expected to attend the regional conferences.

The National Dialogue was constituted by President Salva Kiir Mayardit in 2016 to facilitate discussions on peace and reconciliation among South Sudanese.
