The Youth Representatives of the 11 counties of Eastern Equatoria are set to organize youth conference in Torit.
The conference that is set to take place on May 2020 is to unite youth who have been divided along political line.
Speaking during the visit to the Minister of Environment, Josephine Napwon over the weekend, Chairperson Organizing Committee of the youth conference, Daniel Mwaka said the visit to Minister Josephine was to inform her about the conference as she is one of the government leaders coming from Eastern Equatoria.
Youth were completely divided. We want to organize the conference for the youth to come together and major aspect of the youth is to encourage them to support the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity,” said Mwaka.
We want our youth to be given advice to bring them as group not only youth from Eastern Equatorial State but all the youth,” he added.
He emphasized that the youth wanted to reach President Salva Kiir in order to inform him about the conference that he described as conference for unity because its aim is unity and reconciliation.
He said many youth in the state were willing to make sure that the conference takes place.
The Strategy Committee Member for Eastern Equtoria Youth Conference Izaru Richard Benson said the conference would also focus on damage in the state.
In the last three years there has been massive cutting of trees and we are not seeing any nursery beds for thick in the area and we want to know the position of the government,” said Richard.
Minister of Environment, Josephine Napwon said that youth have rights to move to her office to seek for advise and raise the problem concerning them.
“There was a lot of division among our youth. The issue of 32 states has divided us because of some politicians who have been giving wrong advice to the youth,” said Minister.
