Easter Sunday celebration

Thousands of people gathered at Saint Theresa Cathedral Kator to celebrate Easter, among them was President Salva KiirMayardit, Ministers, and other dignitaries. Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla said today is a great day to us because God has given us light through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

He went on to say that Bishops in Sudan and South Sudan had a conference and passed a joint Easter message to Christians as preparations for the coming of His Holiness Pope Francis who is coming in July this year are ongoing. The coming of the Pope is a blessing to all of us, he is bringing a message of peace, the peace that the world cannot give but it is from Jesus Christ. Easter is the celebration of faith, a new faith with Jesus Christ, and the joy of the resurrection of our Lord.

May this Easter bring change to our country South Sudan, so that refugees from the camps will come home to stay with their relatives after being away for a long time? Currently, people are living with fear due to the political situation in the country; we want our leaders in Sudan and South Sudan not to take us back to war.

We must cry to God for the division that has happened in the country, the confusion brought to our people, we need to put it in the hands of God. Christians were encouraged to stick to Jesus, let us put in our minds that Christ is with us in all sufferings we have.

Bishop Mulla said, with all the situation in the country, the church is growing. There were many celebrations conducted of 100 years in faith, like in Juba, Malakal and other places within South Sudan.

Let us continue praying for peace in our country and pray with Mary the Mother of Jesus at least once every day so that we grant peace in our country.

On the other hand, the Minister of Environment made a comment on behalf of President Kiir and said, this is the time people have to stand together to build the broken people.

May God bless us all.
