Easter FC, champion of the U14 tournament
The Under 14 team of Easter FC has been crowned champion after beating Rockland U14 FC in the final held on Sunday. The game ended 1-0 in favor of Easter Fc. Daniel Donya scored the only goal that separated the two sides just 15 minutes into the game.
The Head Coach, John Kenyi – commonly known as Benge – said he was happy with the performance of the boys. He said he was glad to work with the young boys.
“I’m very glad with the performance of my team and I promise to work hard with the boys so that they improve their skills and achieve more in the future,” Kenyi told Juba Monitor in an online interview yesterday.
He also expressed his delight with the individual players who put much effort behind the team’s success.
“I am excited with the performance of the team most especially, the performance of Patrick Taban, Wilson Umoli and James Lokolong who have been excellent from the beginning of the league until they won the trophy. I really appreciate their consistent excellent performance throughout the league”, Kenyi added.
Kenyi said children should be encouraged to practice football in order to build up their talents. He also asked parents and guardians to give their children the necessary support they need. “We should encourage the kids to build up their talents, I am urging the parents and guardians to give these talented and gifted children the necessary support they need for the development of their football skills and talents”.
“I am also asking the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) and the local football associations in the country to organize such tournaments to develop and recognize the talents of these kids for the bright future of our national football team”, Kenyi told Juba Monitor.
Kenyi also noted that Children’s leagues are never organized in the country.
