Dr. Machar ready for celebration in Juba

The National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC) met Dr. Riek Machar in Khartoum yesterday where the designate First Vice President accepted to attend the scheduled Peace Celebration in Juba next week.
According to well placed sources in the committee, Dr. Machar accepted to come to Juba to attend the peace celebration slated for the 30th October 2018.
The NPTC travelled to Khartoum late last week and held its first meeting to discuss the way forward in the implementation of the R-ARCSS.
The parties signed the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) on 12th September, 2018.
President Salva Kiir had invited all the opposition groups including Dr. Machar to attend the celebration as a measure of confidence building amongst the parties.
The government is reported to have approved a sum of 700 million South Sudanese Pound (SSP) for the celebration; however deputy Minister of Information Lily Albino Akol while confirming the approval did not reveal the exact amount of money allocated for the celebration. Earlier reports from media outlets however indicated the figure to be 700 million SSP.
Lily told journalists yesterday after an extra-ordinary Council of Ministers meeting that the council approved a definite figure.
The Ministry of Interior earlier announced the deployment of more security personnel in Juba in preparation for the celebration.
Minister Michael Chiangjiek on Monday ordered the shutdown of all the night clubs in Juba as part of security measures to minimize criminal activities in Juba town.
