A clerk of Ajuong County in Jonglei state has died in a road ambush upon return from Panyagor, said an official.

Late Angok Duot Deng was allegedly ambushed and shot dead while travelling to the Ajuong County headquarters on a motorbike.

Ajuong County commissioner Philip Machar Akech confirmed to Juba Monitor on Monday that Late Deng was attacked along Ajuong and Lual-Ajokbil area.

He said the deceased did not die at spot, “The youth in the area rushed to the scene after they heard the gun shots. We tried to rush him to the Hospital but just died before reaching the hospital,” Mr. Akech said.

The Commissioner Akech said they suspected the criminals to have come from Boma state as they had been causing fear in Twic East for the last few days.

We are suspecting the criminals to be from Boma.

“The suspects must be from Boma State because they are using tactics of kill and run. These days they are stealing cattle and ambushing people along the road,” Mr. Akech said.

“There are evidences and before this attack, they had tried to steal cattle in the forest from one of the nearby cattle camps at day time,” he claimed.

The commissioner insisted that some items discovered by the youth who pursued them were enough to prove that the criminals were from Boma state.

The attempts to reach Boma state authorities for comment were futile by press time.
