Congratulations to the newly appointed governors

Anna Nimiriano Editor in Chief Juba Monitor

President Salva kiir Mayardit and the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar agreed to appoint governors in the states on 29 of this month. This appointment was supposed to be after that of the National Ministers in the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU} as agreed in the peace deal. But it was delayed up to this moment. Many people pushed the two leaders to appoint the governors for many reasons. One of them was the matter of communal clashes in the states in where many people lost their lives at this critical time of Coronavirus in the country.
I hope with the appointment several things will improve including the issues of revenge killings which must be brought to an end. All newly governors should appoint their deputies and Ministers in various states. Let them appoint the right people in the right places. Otherwise the appointment of relatives, friends and families cannot take them ahead. The most important is to appoint a person who is capable and who can render services to the people.
I am happy for the appointment of Sarah Kilito, as Governor for Western Bhar-el –Ghazal state, the only woman in the team. That is much better than the previous governors in the. Women presentation is very important in any position because they also fought for the peace. Several of them are capable and it is only good to encourage them and be appreciated by being given top position.
Dear governors, your appointment came at a difficult time of COVID-19. It is a big tasks for you to work hard and ensure that peace is maintained in the states. Currently, most of the challenges are confined in the states, whether it is the matter of tribal clashes, cattle raiding and others. Be strong in leadership and enlighten citizens on the issue of Coronavirus pandemic. These are the two problems in the country at the moment.
On the other hand, we need to reduce the number of killings in the country. People should be stopped from killing themselves, especially looting of cattle. We cannot add more killings while people are dying of COVID -19. Certainly if these two are control, I am sure South Sudan will start a new era in the world.
Nevertheless, my advice to you is that, you cooperate as governors; help each other in leadership, especially the neighboring states. If you do it, the rest of the people would follow your foot steps and the entire country will be in peace.
May God bless us all.
