About three hundred and thirty three million South Sudanese pounds is needed for the regional conferences which probably will start later this month, according to Alfred Taban, the head of the Information Secretariat of the National Dialogue.

The regional conferences were initially scheduled to take place in Bahr El Ghazal, Upper Nile and Equatorial regions towards the end of October.

The conference in Bahr El Ghazal will be hosted in Wau, for Upper Nile will be in Malakal or Renk counties and that of Equatorial will be in Juba, according to Taban.

After the three regional conferences are finished, there will then be the National Conference which will take place in Juba.

Alfred Taban said that the money which was budgeted to accommodate the delegations has not yet been made available by the Ministry of Finance.

“The money for these conferences has not yet been provided. The whole amount is about three hundred and thirty three million South Sudanese Pounds,” Taban said yesterday in an interview with Juba Monitor.

Taban added that the date for the conferences has not been scheduled mainly because the money budgeted for the committee has not been allocated by the Ministry of Finance.

He said the National Dialogue has been budgeted for and the committee was in commutation with the Finance Ministry to address the issue of the funds.

“The National Dialogue has been budgeted for only that the Ministry of Finance has not made the money available. So the regional conferences will take place when this money is made available,” he added.

The conference which is scheduled to take place in Wau, the capital of Greater Bahr El Ghazal will bring together delegates from over ten counties of the region including the membership of the National Dialogue.

He believed that about five hundred delegates will attend the regional conference in Wau including the membership and the secretariat of the National Dialogue.

The delegation shall spend ten days in each regional conference according to Taban.
