Clergy encourages people to hope for peace

By Bullen Bala Alexander

Religious leaders in the country have encouraged the citizens to have hope for the peace saying the birth of Jesus Christ is the hope to humanity.

Rev. Paul Samuel Paul a pastor at St. Stephen Munuki Parish said for the country to have everlasting peace in place there is need for the people to have hope in what the leaders are doing for the peace in the country.

He made the statement during the celebration of the 19th anniversary and New Year of St. Stephen Munuki Parish in Juba.

“As we celebrate this New Year and the 19th anniversary of the St. Stephen Munuki Parish let us hope for our peace that in God we will have permanent peace in the country despite many crises including economic crisis, conflicts and the pandemic but we believe that God gives everyone hope and something good happens in future,” Rev. Paul said.

“Let us all believe that all these things will end and South Sudanese will once again celebrate the good peace in the country,” he added.

For his part, Tiondi Francis Madrara the development secretary at St. Stephen Parish Munuki Church said the religious leaders are doing everything possible for people to have peace in the country.

“Unless the whole nation respects the church, they will not have blessing from God because the Bible says those who are fighting war against God will be punished up to their 4th generation,” he added.

He called on people to be God fearing in the country hoping that this year will be the year of peace and blessings for the country.
