The State Security Committee led by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony convened an emergency security meeting in the state government secretariat yesterday.

The Press Secretary in the office of the Central Equatoria State’s governor, Cde Dirick Derickson said that the committee members called on the general civil population in Terekeka County to remain calm and desist from inter-communal clashes.

“Remain calm and desist from inter-communal clashes and opt for peaceful coexistence as both the Joint Technical National Security Committee and the State security committee through its security apparatus are handling the matter with utmost care given the reoccurrences reported in the past few weeks of last year.” Derickson said.

Derickson added that the meeting deliberated on how the persisting insecurity in Terekeka will be solved.

“The meeting by the Joint Technical National Security committee together with the State Security Committee reflected comprehensively on issues surrounding the security situation in Terekeka, Juba and other areas across the state which are relatively calm with exception of the persisting pockets of insecurity reported in Terekeka County,” he added.

The Joint Technical National security committee encouraged the State security committee together with the tasked committee to expeditiously work out to arrest the appalling situation in Terekeka County for peace and unity to prevail in the cattle camps and generally in Terekeka County.

The emergency security meeting was held between the Joint Technical National security committee under the leadership of the Chief of South Sudan People’s Defense Forces, Gen. Johnson Juma Okot, the Inspector General of South Sudan Police Service Gen. Majak Akech Malok together with the Mundari community led by its chairman, Maj. Gen. Clement Wani Konga.

The State Security Committee has also reiterated their earlier call of evacuating some of the cattle herders in the contested areas to their places of origin immediately for peace and stability to prevail in the areas in questions.
