CAF Confirms Date for Uganda vs. South Sudan

 African football governing body CAF, On Monday confirmed to South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) official dates for hosting match day 3 and 4 of the Total AFCON fixtures between Uganda Cranes as Thursday 12/11/2020.

The first league of the group B fixtures will be played in Kampala-Uganda St. Mary’s Stadium Katinde at 4PM, while South Sudan will host Uganda in Nairobi-Kenya- Nyayo Stadium on the Monday 16th/11/2020 in the return fixtures as Juba Stadium is still under construction.

Early this month South Sudan played three friendly matches during the FIFA week, draw two games goalless and lost to PWD Barmenda FC league Champion of Cameroon. Upon returning to Juba South Sudan Head Coach Ashu Cyprian Besong summoned 37 Man’s provisional squads which consist of four goalkeepers, 12 defenders, 13 Midfielders and 8 Strikers drawn from the Council of East and Central African Football (CECAFA) Region, South Sudan. Whereas players from Australia and Europe will start joining the rest of the national team this week.

For South Sudan to stance any chance of qualifying to the Total African Cup 2021 to be hosted by Cameroon, The bright Stars must secure maximum points against Uganda Cranes on both leagues.

South Sudan is in group B of the AFCO qualifiers alongside Table Leaders Uganda Cranes who are tied up with Burkina Faso four points each separated by one goal difference, Malawi comes third with three points and South Sudan bottom after losing the opening two games to Malawi and Burkina Faso 1:0 and 2:1 respectively.
