Businessman urges President to intervene in 1M dollars refund

The long serving businessman from Warrap State is appealing to President Salva Kiir Mayardit to intervene in his delayed payment of over one million dollars for twelve years with the state government.

In an exclusive interview with Juba Monitor Newspaper, the businessman Anei Ajak Mayen said his company went into contract with state government of Warrap in 2009 during the then governor Tor Deng Mawien and agreed to build 21 self-contained rooms for peace delegates and one big conference hall since then up to now he hadn’t been paid his money.

He revealed that he has walked into all top offices in both State and national governments to get his money paid but all efforts of payment of his amount of 815,000 SSP by then failed. This money was taken in Tonj South County, in December, 2009 during peace Conference between Aguok and Apuk. And now the money is equivalent to million dollars.

 “ I had built for them 21 accommodation rooms and one big conference hall apart from other expenses that amount to 815,000 SSP in 2009”, he said.

He further appealed to the President Kiir to rescued him from critical economic situation he found himself in now with his family.

“I am a married man with eight wives and thirty six children and my children have now apparently deserted me due to this poverty that hit me terribly. I am hereby appealing to the president Kiir to respond to rescued me from this jaw of poverty, since then I have been visiting all top offices of the government, and no positive result for payment”, he explained.

Anei briefly narrated his predicament on the following up the process to be paid by the government.

“I walked into office of Tut Kew Gatluak the advisor to the President and I felt down on the floor due to my exhaustion over many times of visiting offices of the government. I was also starving in the process of following up my payment , this was the only money I have as the capital to my business, when I lost it I also lost my way of life as all whole family of mine disgusted me because of poverty they found themselves in now”, he concluded.

Deng   has filled all legal avenue complained to Warrap state Legal Administration and nothing happen so far.

In a letter dated 8th August 2012 from  office  of the President read as follow:  Reference to your letter NO.RSS/W3/COM/GO/11-A-1 DATED 2nd  July 2012 that your esteemed office appreciates the work done by Yar Ayai company, it is better for your office to sit with them and agree on how to settle their claim within the austerity measures because our office did intervene not for the purpose of settling it but just to consult with you because there was a complaint raised against your office by the Company.

In that context, we wrote to your esteemed office but not to settle the claim on your behalf. The austerity measures are comprehensive and no exception.

The letter was signed by then Executive Director in Office of the President.
