Bright Stars lost to Al-Rabbita in a Friendly match

Ahead of the scheduled African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda Cranes and Cameroon friendly match, South Sudan National Team suffered a shocked 1:0 defeat to Al-Rabbita FC-Juba in a warm match played in Playground on Sunday.

 Al-Rabbita FC took the lead through Sabir Lino Makana cross before Emmanuel Wani tapped the ball into the back of the net in the second half after the half time ended goalless.

In the first friendly match played on Tuesday 15th September 2020, Al-Rabbita lost 2-0 as Justine Azama and Omot Sebit each half goals grabbed victory for the Bright Stars. Al-Rabbita 2019/2020 South Sudan Cup Champions will be participating in this year’s CAF Confederation’s Cup preliminary Round in November.

Bright Stars are expected to travel to Cameroon for a 10 days camping before playing friendly match against Cameroon league champion WD Bamenda FC on the 7th October before facing the Intermediate Lions on 10th October 2020 three days later.

Early this month, South Sudan National Team Coach, Cyprian Ashu Besong summoned more than a 20 players most from Juba Primer league, 9 from the State Local Football Associations and other five from the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) region for non-residential training.

South Sudan is in group B, alongside Uganda, Burkina Faso, and Malawi as it lies bottom of the group without a single point in the last two AFCON games.
