South Sudan National Team Bright Stars lost their first competitive friendly match against Cameroon league Champion PWD Bamenda FC 3:0 on Wednesday’s evening played at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium-Cameroon.
Two first goals from Nchindo Jonh Bosco put the home team in control of the game as second half substitute Ngondi Vincent Paul came off the bench to replace Fegue Omgba to score the third goal for the home team.
But Mr. Ramsey Sebit Lomoro, Former Care-Taker Manager for the National Team and current Coach for Al-Rabbita FC Juba said it’s not a surprise that the national team had lost and said they needed to be given enough time to play together since it’s for the first time some of the players are playing international game and for the national team.
“The game against PWD Bamenda FC is a good trial for the players because same players have not been playing together/outside, it’s the first of its kind, if you look at Rhan right back from Munuki and Titto Okello of Gor Mohia FC are good players but they are playing together for the first time, so I am sure the technical team will look at the mistakes correct them and bounce back in the next match against Cameroon CHAN Team,” said Sebit.
Mr Sebit believe the national team should be built on modern football which is about counter attacking and scoring goals while defensive midfielders and defenders protect the team from conceding goals.
“Look at how Liverpool attack and defend; when you attack you have the possibility of set pieces subsequently score goals that’s modern Football not attack but counter attack, Secondly our National Team have goal scoring problems therefore the Coach need to improve in that especially when you are coming to play a strong team like Uganda because counter attacking football need all departments to work well from defenders to strikers and even the holding midfielders should be able to launch diagonal or aerial passes ,” he added.
South Sudan next game is against Cameroon CHAN National Team A side on the 10th/10/2020 before playing the return fixture three days later.
Next month the Bright Stars will take on Uganda Cranes in Kampala in attempt to qualify to AFCON Cameroon 2021, Currently South Sudan lays bottom of group B table standing after losing the first two games against Malawi and Burkina Faso.
