Bol lauds Bright Stars for progressing to group stage in AFCON qualifiers

The National Minister of Youth and Sport, Albino Bol Dhieu has lauded and appreciated national football team – bright Stars for progressing to group stage of African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Bright Stars had earned itself a place in group phase of African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after they thrashed Djibouti team twice in Egypt and Uganda this week.

Dr. Bol appreciated the national football team for high performance and high tactic they have shown during the sports competition.

He was speaking at closure ceremony of National Unity Day organized by Japan International Agency (JICA); aim to promote peace and social cohesion among South Sudanese communities. 

Mr. Bol sent a warm congratulatory message to the National football team who qualified to group phase in AFCON 2023, adding that if team succeed they will play in the African Cup of Nations.

“The next National team will be from those who are playing now and those who shown their talent whether Bentiu or Bor as long as you shown your talents you will be part of the bright stars football team” Bol noted. 

He appreciated Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for organizing National Unity Day for the last six years, adding that peace is paramount in order to give youth chance to practice sports and be given a micro financing program.

Representative of Central Equatoria Government, Rita Dominic appreciated the organizing committee for their tireless effort in making the event successful, and to consolidate social cohesion.

“The major reason regarding this competition is to select the genius players to represent the National team in international tournament this competition should be a way to boost our National relation globally.” 

However, Chief Representative for JICA, Sagara Fuyuki said: “We have seen great efforts of players and I congratulate the Bentiu team and the Bor team for making it to the final and your efforts have impressed the people so much and you should be proud of your own efforts.”

Sagara urged youths to embrace peace and solidarity in south Sudan so that it paves ways for sports activities in the country.
