An Open Call

By Robin Saban

“The Transitional Government of National Unity recognizes the value of partnership with international organizations and donors and this is why we have unconditionally offered our cooperation for all these years. On the basis of this belief, I am appealing to all our partners to open a new page of mutual recognition in the year 2021,”

“Let us all work to silence the guns in 2021. This will allow us to focus on directing our resources to national development priorities such as service provision to our people,” said the President of the Republic of South Sudan His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit.

On January 1st, 2021, the president of the Republic of South SudanHis Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, sent a very clear message to international partners, donors, and friends of South Sudan around the world asking for recognition and cooperation to enable the Republic of South Sudan to move forward and silence the guns to ease the suffering of the citizens of the world’s youngest nation.

The President acknowledged international partners, friends, and donors who have been with South Sudan in supporting the country during hard times.

With this open call, it shows that the government of South Sudan has worked very hard to form the Transitional Government of National Unity. Each member of the Transitional Government of National Unity and its officials know their responsibilities and are ready to work hard to create a stable and trusted governmental institution so that the focus must be directed toward national resources and national development priorities.

The above message is a sincere and honest open call to the international community to accept the president’s peaceful hand and to join in supporting the people of South Sudan in building a stable and positive future.

Thus, certainmeasures that are beingtaken by South Sudan, such as local structural improvements, will naturally send a positive signal to the international community to respond to the open call.

I am sure that international partners, donors, as well as friends of South Sudan, are looking for common ground to start working with the South Sudanese Government, and it is only a matter of time for this common ground to be established so that the work can begin.

As an ambassador for the Universal Peace Federation, it is an honor to be a part of the efforts that will support the development of the Republic of South Sudan.

Until the next article, please stay safe and sound and God bless you all.
