A mother shot dead, toddler injured, two children kidnapped

An attack on a family in Mile-30, a village few Kilometers ahead of Nisitu has led to the death of a mother and injury of an infant and other two children abducted by the same attackers over the weekend.
In an exclusive interview, the National Police Spokesperson Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin confirmed the attack but said identity of attackers was yet to be established.
“On Sunday in Mile-30, some unknown gunmen attacked a family whereby a mother was killed, two children were kidnapped and a young child was also injured. All the three children are from the deceased mother,” Maj. Gen. Justin said.
The Police Spokesperson added that the police forces in the area were still in pursuit of the assailants.
Meanwhile, in another incident of crime late last week, the Spokesperson said 29 youngsters were due for court trial yesterday after they compounded by the Gumbo police while assaulting a woman on her way home late on Saturday.
The youngsters attacked the unnamed lady with machetes and broken glasses inducing minor injuries on her but was luckily rescued after police heard her wailing.
“In Gumbo a young lady was attacked while going home at around 6pm by some violent boys. Cutting her with machetes and broken her beer bottles. After the lady was heard screaming, our forces in the area came and arrested 29 boys.”
According to the police the violent youngsters were intoxicated and frequently robbed people at night in the area.
