30th of July 2021

Anna Nimiriano Editor in Chief Juba Monitor

Every year government of South Sudan commemorates 30th of July to remember those who lost their lives because of this country. It is a very important day to all members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM} to pay tributes to those martyrs who died. On top of them was Dr. John Garang who died in a plane crash with others.

According to the information, Juba Monitor got said that President Salva Kiir Mayardit had visited the tombs of those who died during the liberation struggles as part of the celebration.

It is supposed to be a big celebration as it used to be in those years. All national events have not been celebrated as expected by the people of South Sudan. Maybe individuals celebrated in the level of the family. Nevertheless, their sacrificed was the one that brought Independence. To remember this day is to see challenges and achievements the government had during the past years.

On the other hand, people of South Sudan should appreciated the government headed by President Salva Kiir Mayardit, under his leadership we are still an Independent country.  The most important is to remember the challenges the country went through from 2013 up to this time. People of South Sudan will not forget what had gone wrong in 2013 and 2016.

It was the time President Kiir had misunderstanding with Dr. RiekMachar, which lead to conflict that many people died.  It had added number of martyrs who shed bloods for this country. The differences were that the conflicts of 2013 and 2016 werebetween people of the samecountry, South Sudanese.

As a result, many citizens became displaced in the neighboring countries. However, to remember this day is to record the good and bad events that occurred previously. Up to now people of South Sudan are not yetstable; there are a lot of killings in other parts of the country due to insecurity.

I wished the day would have reflected true picture of SPLM vision and end all differences they have in the leadership.

May God bless us all.
