By Martha David

The national Ministry of Health has donated 180 bicycles to the students of Health Science Institute in Yambio State.

Rose Mary, the state Minister of Health said the bicycles were to be used by both students and the teaching staff to ease their studies.

“The students had been complaining that they were coming from far, they needed support at least to make their studies easy,” she said.

Ms. Rose said it has taken time for the national Ministry of Health to respond to their request although it was made a long time ago.

Filbert Yangadayo, the principal of Yambio Heath Science Institute said the students were excited and grateful for the donation.

“This donation will be as a promotion to the school for others to join the institute and also will create awareness to all the young ones to join the institute,” he said.

He said the institution was facing a lot of challenges due to the economic crisis in the country but the government has promised to improve their situation

“We need qualified teachers of different cadres to run the school and equipment for the school,” Filbert said.

The principal urged the communities and well-wishers, agencies and NGOs to support the school.

Yambio Health Science Institute was established in 2016 by the national Ministry of Health. It offers courses in faculties of Clinical Officers department, Registered Nursing, Registered Midwifery and Medical Lap department.
