South Sudan wins a Silver medal in Taekwondo

South Sudan has scooped a silver medal in the Taekwondo category yesterday at the ongoing Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone V Youth Games in Rwanda.
Flora Aluel beat Kenyan taekwondo stars to earn the country’s second medal in Day-Two of the youth games.
Her colleague Emmanuel unfortunately lost his game to Kenya 25-61 in the men’s taekwondo category.
South Sudan’s first medal, a bronze came in the athletics 400M race won by Joseph Akoon Akoon on Wednesday.
In other categories, South Sudan has knocked out host Rwanda and is on the verge of booking a place in the semi-finals of the ladies’ beach volleyball after registering easy victories against Rwanda in Group B on Wednesday.
In the ladies’ 3×3 basketball, Rwanda edged Burundi 21-5, and South Sudan 17-8, but lost 21-3 to Refugees Team. They will have more games today in both basketball and taekwondo.
South Sudan beat Kenya and Somalia on Wednesday
in the boys’ Basketball category.
The inaugural edition of the regional showpiece has attracted over 300 athletes, all Under-18, from twelve countries.
