Cabinet Ministers Awut Deng Acuil and Jema Nunu Kumba have been moved in a mini-cabinet reshuffle announced by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
In a series of decrees issued on Monday evening, President Salva Kiir relieved Nhial Deng Nhial as Foreign Affairs Minister and replaced him with Awut, former Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare.
Awut becomes the first woman to hold the Foreign Affairs docket in the otherwise predominantly male-dominated cabinet since 2005.
Nhial only served in that portfolio since last year after replacing Deng Alor Kuol.
President Kiir moved Jemma Nunu Kumba from the Wildlife Conservation and Tourism docket to replace Awut at the Youth, Gender and Social Welfare docket.
Minister Nunu’s former Wildlife, Conservation and Tourism slot was taken up with a new face, Alfred Akuoch Omoli.
Kiir further relieved Rebecca Joshua Okwaci from the Ministry of Roads and Bridges and immediately replaced her with Simon Mijok Mijak.
Ms Okwaci held that position since 2015.
Meanwhile President Kiir also relieved Atem Madut Yak as the Governor of Twic State, replacing him with Jacob Madhol Lang.
In Akobo, President Kiir appointed Timothy Taban Juch as the new governor to replace the late General Gony Biliu.
