Police said they have arrested 25 suspected members of the commonly known “nigga” groups during Easter festival for disturbing security of Juba City.

Police Spokesperson, Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin, said among those arrested was an eight-year-old young boy.

“Yesterday (on Sunday) we managed to arrest like 27 young boys among them is eight year old boy and they are under investigation now,” Maj. Gen. Justice said.

Speaking to Juba Monitor yesterday, Justin said fifteen of them were arrested in Gudele while the rest were found around Juba Teaching Hospital.

He pointed out that the general situation within the city during Easter celebration was calm and normal.

“The general situation is okay. The Easter went well,” he said.

However, some eye witnesses told Juba Monitor that three people were found killed in two different places, two in Rock City and the other in Tongping residential areas during Easter celebrations.

Speaking on condition of Anonymity yesterday 29 year old resident of Tongping said another boy was in a critical condition and was rushed to Juba Teaching Hospital for treatment.

“On Sunday morning one person was killed and another one was in a bad condition. According to the information I heard the two threw stones at one another resulting to the death of one person,” he said.

Another eye witness in Rock City residential area said, “I saw with my own eyes two people were killed but I do not know what killed them. Another one is in critical condition.”

“Nigga” groups have become a major security thread in Juba. They are armed with traditional tools including sticks, knives, arrows and bows and machetes that they use to fight against rival groups.
