MARIAL, bounces back in Gov’t

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin as his Advisor and Special Envoy.
Dr. Marial was appointed by a Presidential Decree broadcast on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation Television on Wednesday evening.
Dr. Marial who previously had served as Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister was replaced three years ago by Deng Alor before Nhial Deng and now Awut Deng held the same position respectively.
He will operate from the Office of the President as an Advisor and Special Envoy to President Kiir. The position was previously held by Nhial Deng Nhial before he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. Nhial was replaced early this week by Awut Deng.
Over the last three years, Marial has been a member of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly.
In other decrees, President Kiir also appointed the former Ambassador to Sudan, Mayen Dut Wol as the new Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, replacing Baak Valentino Akol.
Deng Wal Achien was also appointed as the Executive Director in the Office of the President replacing Rizik Dominic.
Kiir also replaced Marol Mayuol with Paul Paulo Onge as the new Chief Administrator in the Office of President.
