Members of the political parties have backed President Salva Kiir’s call to form Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity [R-TGoNU] in May.

They said the R-TGoNU should not be effective as of May 12th as stated in the Revitalized-Peace Agreement.

In a joint statement made by Umbrella of Political Parties on Monday Peter Mayen Majongdit, the Chairman of the People’s Liberal Party and a senior peace delegate said establishing RTGoNU was vital and desirable for trust building.

“For the sake of stability, peace and trust building, citizens need to establish the government as schedule in the agreement,” Mayen said.

He said the Umbrella of Political parties was in full support of the Revitalized-Peace Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.

“The Umbrella Political Parties leadership is unwaveringly in full support of the president’s call for the formation of the government in May 12th,”he stated.

He added that his group affirmed its position and urged the public, other political parties and citizens to urgently form the long awaited unity government.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit during his Easter message to the citizens urged Dr. Riek Machar and other leaders to return to Juba for formation of the new government.

He was quoted “I am inviting Dr. Machar to urgently return to Juba so that we can work together to expedite the process of forming the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNU)”.

“I hold the view that any delay to the formation of the government would crush the hope of our people for peace,”  added.

“It would create a sense of weariness and uncertainty about the viability on the formation of the unity government and any delay to this would be act of bad faith in the eyes of our people,” Kiir said during the address on the eve of Easter Day.
