Gov’t, opposition relations good –Deputy Governor

Despite recent attacks on the roads in Amadi State, there is good relationship between the state government and the opposition group-SPLM/A-IO, the state government has said.
Speaking to Juba Monitor yesterday in Juba, Manase Doboyi Agoli the Amadi State Deputy Governor said since the opening of Ngiri cantonment area, there has been better understandings between their counterpart the SPLM/A-IO.
“Though we are in good terms with SPLM-IO, the major threat in the State is the forces belonging to Thomas Cirilo and other criminals who are disturbing on the roads remain a big problem in the area,” he explained.
“I think SPLM-IO are doing very well, they respect the Revitalized Peace Agreement and they are really showing the level of commitment to this peace deal, I think it is the way for us to go,” Agoli stressed.
He said recently, a delegation from the opposition went to the State headed by Lt. Gen. Wisely Welebe and other dignitaries from the SPLM-IO went to the state to solve some outstanding issues amongst themselves.
“We facilitated them to go to cantonment area of Ngiri and they were able to solve their differences because before they were divided but now they have already solved their differences,” he added.
He said the cooperation between the SPLM/A-IO forces and the government can help in identifying criminals operating in the state.
The Amadi State deputy governor also appealed to people to embrace the ongoing National Dialogue as a chance “to express their views on how to implement the peace agreement, and how the country should be governed.”
“The revitalized peace agreement requires commitment from all the South Sudanese. I appeal to all the other opposition forces still outside to come and join us together so that we move forward,” Agoli said.
He said the ongoing Equatoria Conference in Juba can be one of the tools to support the Revitalized Peace Agreement because people are looking for possible solutions to bringing permanent peace in the country.
He said it is through the struggle of the citizens that the country can be stabilized and developed.
