A team of Chinese doctors from the China Medical Team are in Bor town of Jonglei State to assess the general health condition of the civil population.

Ms. Amuor Rachel Pach, Jonglei state Minister of Health told Juba Monitor yesterday that the 15 Chinese medical doctors arrived in Bor on Monday afternoon to conduct consultation and minor surgery for the citizens.

She said the team consist of doctors specialized in treating both women and children.

“What is basically happening is that Chinese medical doctors are in Bor. They include doctors for women and children. Nurses are also available. They will be here for the next four days,” said Ms. Pach.

She stated that although it is a short outreach, she believes that it will be helpful to the community.

“This is because we don’t have gynecologists for women and pediatrics for children. It is a great help that Chinese medical team are doing now. We will finalize on Thursday afternoon. By that time, we would have known how far they have gone and which cases they have registered,” Ms. Pach said.

The minister revealed that the civil population was contented at Bor state Hospital since most of them were given medicines after being tested positive of any disease.

He appreciated the national Ministry of Health and Chinese government for the support.

“Whatever steps of health services taken by the authorities help us provide basic health services to the civil population,” she noted.

Ms. Pach said that about 800 people turned up for consultation at Bor State Hospital by Monday.

The China Medical Team works in collaboration with South Sudanese doctors at Juba Teaching Hospital.
