A civil society activist in Western Lakes state is demanding Western Lakes state governor to release the three million SSP donated by President Salva Kiir.

Daniel Laat Kon said the three million SSP donated by Kiir to the community during his peace tour in Rumbek had not reached them.

The activist urged the governor to handover the money to the beneficiaries or they follow up with the benefactor [president Kiir].

“This three million South Sudanese pounds donation was categorized into groups including the youth, women, chiefs school-going children and dance groups,” he explained.

“It was announced by president Kiir in Rumbek Freedom Square and everyone received the announcement,” Kon added.

According to Kon, a similar donation was made in Gok and Tonji States. He said unlike Western Lakes state, communities in those states received their donations.

However, attempts to reach the Western Lakes state Finance Minister for comment was futile.
